The scriptures are plain, and history is evidence that the wealth distribution in every society and age follow closely along the pattern of the Pareto Distribution. Efforts must be made both in society and government to maximize the benefits of the production and the efforts of those individuals most willing and able to create wealth. With that wealth comes the industries, jobs, and opportunities which allow every level of society to prosper. Freedom of choice, with justice, is the clearest path forward. Whether it is called capitalism or simply freedom is the best way to address inequality now. The best policy is to allow people to be free to create, produce, and succeed.
Past attempts to address inequality, outside of the context of freedom, have been disastrous. The philosophy of Karl Marx has been applied to many countries, and the descent of those countries into totalitarian dictatorships has resulted in the death of millions. Inept government planning, failed official policy, and outright oppression and murder have resulted in famine, misery and genocide. The two most telling examples are the failure of the Communist government in Venezuela, and the systematic annihilation of the Kulaks in the Soviet Union. Venezuela was reduced from one of the most prosperous countries in South America, with abundant natural resources, to a poverty-stricken society full of violence and unrest. Similarly, Joseph Stalin purposely starved and killed approximately 5 Million Kulak peasants between 1929 and 1932.
It is clear that Socialist experiments attempting to address the observed inequalities pictured in the Pareto Principle only result in more poverty and inequality.
However, there is hope. Christ’s return to the earth in that period of time known as the Millennium or Kingdom Age will most certainly result in an end to The Pareto Principle as a descriptive economic theory. Amos 9:13 foretells a time when, “The plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed.” This verse points to a time of plenty. There will be no more injustice, poverty, or sickness. In COVID-19 language, God will “flatten the curve” of The Pareto Principle. The blessing of righteousness and Christ will cover the whole earth.
